What Providers say:

“I have personally, week after week, witnessed the incredible internal changes of the men and women who have completed your program". -Dr. Cece Gannon, Inmate Services Volunteer Trainer, Sonoma County Jail, Santa Rosa, CA

"In the 10 years I taught the Anger Management Classes, the men who completed the program often spoke of how they were able to use their anger management tools away from the center, with their families, in their work and daily lives. Even those who perceive themselves without anger issues, can benefit from the course". -Leilani Palmieri, Retired Directior of Rehabilitation, The Salvation Army, Lytton ARC

SMARTS training helps clients reduce and even eliminate the anger that is driving their self-defeating behaviors."  -Rock Todd, MA, LAC, LASAC, Community Bridges, Glendale, AZ

Mike is a Licensed Substance Abuse Counselor and Director of Speakman Coaching and Consulting. He is also on staff at the Calvary Addiction Recovery Center in Phoenix, Arizona.

In 1991 Mike developed the first Anger Management Training for the Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center in Phoenix. Since then, he has been a tireless student of the learning and recovery process. "I suppose you could call me a behaviorist. I watch how people respond to the concepts and exercises and I'm continually nurturing things that work and replacing the things that don't". [See the History of SMARTS-Training]

This brief background would not be complete without acknowledging the over 5,000 people who have gone through SMARTS-Training® in jails, rehabilitation centers, court-ordered domestic violence training and churches. Their experiences, successes, failures and feedback have directly informed this training. And they will continue to help Mike refine and improve the program for years to come.
